Melanie Joy Gunio:
“History has proven that people are successful
not because of brilliance
but because of persistence and desire.”
In one way or another, this quotation has helped me for the past quarter that we had. I could not say that I am a “Certified C-program genius.” In fact, there are so many things that I still need to master when it comes to C-programming. But just what the qoute says, it comes with your perseverance and of course, your desire.
Honestly, there is a fear that creeps inside me when the thought of my 3rd quarter grade in Computer Science comes to my mind. I believe that I was not reluctant of the possibilities that may come, if taken for granted, but I just couldn’t understand why when I was trying to go to another level, the steps seem to crumble down to pieces. My practical test was a trash though I believe I’ve prepared enough, I guess it did not really help. My periodic test was some sort of movie I would always like to rewind. I hate it everytime I remember what my score could have become if not because of that simple mistake. I forgot to write the word “random” for each statement in the first part of the test. That could have been 8 points added to my score and it would really help with my disastrous grade of 26.
Now, I am simply hoping that the grade which I have been working for 8 months now would not be put into ruins. Ms. Gallardo would always say that the results of our practical and periodic test would be a great factor of what could become of our 3rd quarter grade. I do not really know what happened to the efforts I have put into this quarter. It’s either the lessons are just getting a lot complicated or maybe I’m just getting too relax. Whatever may be the result of my grade, I just hope that I could be able to accept it no matter what 2-digit number I see in my card.
Anyway, enough with my grade. Let us try to reminisce the experiences that I had during this grading.
Oh, the SNAKE PROGRAM!!! It was indeed a tough program. With all the borders, the instructions, the looping statements, the different characters, it was really confusing. Especially when certain improvements should be done just like the random function. We succeeded in making the food appear randomly, but the snake would not eat it! It just went pass through it. Well, I believe we were just beginning then. Though the game was a boring type when played, it was a great satisfaction when we’ve got it running. Good thing we’ve got a C-program genius in our group – the girl whose name is Mikka. “Well…!!” she’d always say. There would be lots of program that we couldn’t get running if not for her C-acquainted brains. It really helped a lot. But there was a time when her simple positionings of main() function and close brackets caught our group in total confusion. We’ve got the right program from the start but we were trying to change it again and again thinking that there must be something wrong ‘coz it just wouldn’t run smoothly. But no matter what program it would be, MNM (+1 M) would bravely decipher what statements and functions would fit to make things running. That’s MNM (+1M) – Mikka, Norriz, Melanie plus Mark equals a new version of group 8 – MNMM…
